Great Snipe (Gallinago media)

Great Snipe (Gallinago media)

Story:

After having spent six hours finding the Northern Nutcracker we made a quick stop at Uldum Kær in hopes of finding a Great Snipe amongst the many Common ones (even though we only had one-and-a-half hours before we had to get on the train in Horsens), this turned out to be a fantastic idea since after leaving our shoes behind and sacrificing our bare feet to the many nettles we were able to see one fly up from the edge of the field. It was much bigger, had a striped belly, bold white wing bands and just generally had a completely different jizz than all the Common Snipes that where flying about.
